MISSOURI – Lena Barkley
Jennings High School – Jennings, MO
Jennings School District and CVS Health Workforce Initiatives launched a workforce development partnership and creation of a CVS Mock Pharmacy in 2018 to help teach students of all abilities, while still in school, the skills needed for careers in health care. The mock pharmacy is the only CVS mock pharmacy in the St. Louis area. In partnership with the Jennings Special School District, the workforce development program includes courses that allow students the opportunity for internships with CVS pharmacies. The program empowers all students, especially those with special needs, to be work ready. Students who complete the program are able to apply for jobs at CVS stores.
NEW YORK – Joana Lisboa/Amanda Tierney
Brooklyn Transition Center – Brooklyn, NY
The Brooklyn Transition Center is the first school in the NYC Department of Education District 75 to partner with CVS Health Workforce Initiatives, opening an onsite mock store in 2017. The center is part of the District 75 initiative of providing citywide educational, vocational and behavior support programs for students with significant cognitive disabilities. The CVS learning lab provides 400+ students who attend the school the opportunity to complete a school created curriculum that breaks down CVS specific retail tasks, in preparation for an in-store CVS pharmacy work experience program, learning crucial job skills that leads to future independence. The innovative program for youth, ages 13-21, aims to provide work experience and customer service skills possibly leading to employment in a retail setting.
SUNY Westchester Community College Educational Opportunity Center – Yonkers, NY
Funded by State University of New York (SUNY), Westchester Community College Educational Opportunity Center provides tuition free academic and vocational training, along with workforce preparation programs for adults who meet income and educational eligibility guidelines. In partnership with CVS Health Workforce Initiatives, a mock pharmacy is located in the center to help support the WEOC pharmacy technician curriculum, producing skilled competent potential CVS Health employees. As part of the pharmacy technician training, students complete an internship offered at CVS pharmacies. Upon completion of the pharmacy technician program, they can apply for employment at CVS Health.
NORTH CAROLINA – Kally Wilson
