Simulated Facilities in Schools
PENNSYLVANIA • RHODE ISLAND
PENNSYLVANIA – John White
General McLane School District – Edinboro, PA
A retail skills training program is offered at General McLane Middle School for students with disabilities. The CVS Health Workforce Initiatives mock store, located at the school, helps train students in customer service, cash register and merchandising skills, preparing them for employment. The school-year-long program also provides for hands-on-work experience through externships at area CVS stores. Students who satisfactorily complete the program can apply for jobs with CVS Health.
RHODE ISLAND – Ted Mower
Davies Career & Technical High School – Lincoln, RI
Workforce Initiatives and Davies Career & Technical High School have partnered for nearly
20 years to provide work-based learning to Davies juniors and seniors enrolled in their pharmacy school-to-career curriculum. The program combines school-based learning with
a 12-week internship at a CVS pharmacy, where students begin to use the skills acquired in the classroom and the first-in-the nation CVS mock pharmacy located at the school. Eligible students may pursue post-graduation CVS Pharmacy Technician certification. The pharmacy has expanded to include a mock store and serve individuals with disabilities through a partnership with AccessPoint RI. Students with disabilities acquire customer service and cash register skills preparing them to apply for employment with CVS Health.
