o The committee will comprise of a cadre of medical professional, both faculty and
external evaluators who will assess students' competency level via an interview format.
The competency level will be measured against the MD program Assessment Blueprint.
Clinical Sciences Assessment
Year 3
- Logbook – 10%
- NBME Subjects exam -10%
- Attendance – 10%
- Question Bank completion – 10%
- Preceptor evaluation – 60%
The NBME and Question Bank are compulsory and cannot be omitted even if the students have already
received a passing grade when combining the other assessed categories. They are our only source that
measures students' Knowledge competencies for clinical sciences. Logbook and preceptor confirm
clinical skills and abilities competencies; attendance measures professionalism competency. The pass
mark of the NBME exam is a score of 70 +/- 2
OSCE Examination
- Formative assessment: The student will not receive a grade for the OSCE only feedback. This is,
however, mandatory and will be used by the Professional Performance Committee during their
evaluation of the student.
Year 4
- Logbook – 20%
- Attendance – 20%
- Preceptor evaluation – 60%
On completion of the clinical sciences courses, students will take the NBME Comprehensive Clinical
Sciences. The pass mark of the NBME exam is a score of 70 +/- 2
Requirement for Graduation
The following exams, in addition to individual course assessments, must be passed to receive a Doctor of
Medicine Degree from GAU
