advance knowledge in the medical sciences;
• Contribute internationally by enhancing the clinical delivery system through relationships with
community hospitals, physicians, and other healthcare providers, as well as attracting and training
new healthcare providers worldwide
1.2 Mission
Its mission is to ensure that the governing board, administration, faculty, staff and all constituents work
cohesively through teaching and innovative research to offer opportunities for higher education and thus
create and nurture a diverse student body committed to excellence in leadership and able to demonstrate
values and moral characteristics in alleviating human suffering caused by disease through health care
delivery in service to the public.
1.2.1 The University’s mission statement
The mission of the University is to create and nurture a diverse student body committed to offering
internationally recognized opportunities for learning, discovery and engagement

1.3 Core Values
GAU has core values that are essential for the fulfilment of its mission which is people-centered and
encompassing the elements that are enunciated hereunder. These are: belief in quality, be innovative,
build team spirit, bring passion
2.0 Organization Cohesion
GAU expects that all departments will function cohesively in pursuit of its mission and objectives. The
functions of each Department are aligned with the organization’s core mission and they are either in direct
support of program delivery or are peripheral to the departments that have direct responsibility for their
delivery. However, whether they play direct or indirect roles, nevertheless their functions are vital for
mission success. In this regard, human resources is responsible for talent (personnel) acquisition and
retention, while finance is responsible for tracking and ensuring that the organization maintains its
financial viability through accurate and timely reporting for decision-making.
3.0 Institutional Planning and Effectiveness
Georgetown American University conducts institutional planning annually covering all its programs,
services and constituencies linked to decision-making process at all levels to ensure effectiveness. This
assures a commitment to principles of continuous improvement, based on systemic and documented
