At UPS I was a rising star.
Now, starting over at A.T. Kearney, my new company, I was once again at the bottom and my struggling self-esteem made life difficult again.
What was worse is that I had a two-hour commute each way each day.
It took me about a week to decide this was no way to live and nine months to find a consulting job in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
With a background at UPS, material handling, industrial engineering and consulting, I quickly became the go-to guy when there were systemic problems at my new company.
Our company installed major material handling systems at SS Kresge (K-Mart), Walmart, major grocery chains and others.
These systems introduced a new paradigm and it took management expertise to bring them online. My job was to unravel the problems and train the mangers to run the new systems.
Escape through career
My escape from dealing with my self-esteem was to excel at my chosen profession. I didn’t understand this until much later.
That escape, as in most escapes, led to separation and divorce.
As I went through the pain experienced by myself and others, I began to search for a solution to my self-esteem issue. My life challenges seemed to be tied to poor self-esteem.
I tried many churches with little result. But then, an unusual experience... My first psychic experience
I was introduced to a psychic in western Pennsylvania by Jan, a young woman I was dating after my divorce. She had heard about this psychic and wanted to go see him, so we did.
