Lack of Passion
When I personally don’t feel passion, I’m not experiencing life. I have anesthetized my emotional being. Given that conclusion, it’s time to begin feeling my emotions.
This is a tough one for me. As a small child I was total emotion. I would either be laughing or crying. There was little in between. As I grew up in the culture of the ‘50s, emotions for a man were not acceptable. Given that excuse, I find myself many times and more often than I would like, dry of emotions.
As Spar Street (Chapter 5, Section 1) said: “I was in my twenties and realized that I couldn’t cry.” After hearing that I realized that I’m in my seventies with the same issue.
One thing that has helped enormously is to see that emotions are a compass for life. When you are feeling good, it is probably because things are going well. When you are feeling bad, it is probably indicating that something needs to change.
