Set a timer for 10 to 30 minutes and sit down facing your partner. Your knees should be close to touching. Begin by talking briefly about a challenge or issue you face as a couple. What would you like to deal with during this period? When ready, start the timer.
Gaze into your partner’s eyes without talking until the timer goes off. Just be aware of your feelings.
Book of Positive Aspects
Use this exercise when you want to ride a positive emotion or when facing a negative topic and want to improve your intuitive input on that topic.
Pick a journal and label it “Book of Positive Aspects.”
Take a page and write down the subject or person I want to feel good about. Then answer three questions for each:
What do I like about you?
Why do I love you so much? What are your positive aspects?
Pivoting
You just made a statement that you want to reverse.
Say to yourself: “OK, I know what I don’t want, what is it that this tells me about what I want?” Then think that thought.
