KAWRJ Connections
September, 2018
What s’more do we have going on?
KAWRJ ladies had a fun time at our Summer Gathering Aug. 26th, eating hot dogs and s’mores, singing and hearing about the programming for this next year. We learned that KAWRJ has events that are inclusive, supportive and connect us with each other and our faith. There will be the ever-popular Ladies’ Nights Out as well as two Ladies’ Nights In where we have a potluck together in someone’s home. We will have Sunday Connections and Conversations where we’ll meet Sunday mornings to connect and converse about various topics. We will have adult social events where we gather with the men to connect over food, books, movies and holidays as well as some events geared towards families. We’ll lead services again and support the congregation through other events such as a big birthday party and an Israeli Independence celebration. We’ll continue to help our community in a variety of ways, but our focus will be on helping homeless women. As in the past, we will continue to find ways to support getting our kids to Jewish camps. This year, it will be through our Sociable Sign-Ups, where members donate their time, talents and funds. Of course, throughout the year, we will find ways for our members to get to know each other better as well as support CKA. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________
Adopt-a-Row
KAWRJ has been involved in helping the Clark County Food Bank through their Adopt-a-Row program. In June, we
prepared the ground and planted the squash seeds. In July and August, we’ve spent time weeding and keeping our plants healthy. On Sept. 17th at 5:30 pm we’ll harvest. Wendy Mikota
and her family have been faithful gardeners with this program and would love your help. If you are interested in picking squash, please
contact us at kawrj18@gmail.com or call Wendy directly. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________
With all that we have going on during the High Holidays, let's stop and connect with
each other and with nature. Join us for a walk along the Salmon Creek Trail and then
lunch over at Chuck's on Sept. 16th. Meet at Salmon Creek Greenway Trailhead (just off
117th) at 10:00. We'll walk for about an hour on the trail and then walk the two blocks
over to Chuck's for lunch at 11:15. Come join us for the walk, the lunch or both! Please
let us know which you'll attend when you respond.
