Beyond cutting down on illicit robocalls and curbing fraud, STIR/SHAKEN can help CSPs reduce costs. Over the past decade, telecom companies and their customers incurred losses from different types of telephony-based fraud, totaling $38.1 billion.
The adoption and enforcement of STIR/ SHAKEN packs a one-two punch for CSPs— enabling them to boost customer satisfaction and dramatically lower the cost of managing fraud and recouping potential losses. What’s next?
While the FCC has strongly encouraged providers to deploy STIR/SHAKEN in the past, the FCC is quickly working toward new rules that will require the phone industry

At the end of March 2020, the FCC is slated to vote on this proposal which
March/April 2020
would give CSPs until June 30, 2021 to comply with TRACED Act mandates. Until then, CSPs should consider beginning the implementation process to get ahead in delivering a solution that will help them save money and provide better service to their customers. ■
