The gossip went on until Sarika excused herself to the washroom. On her way back into the room, she
noticed a peculiar detail on the door: the little gap between the door frame and the door latch was not
divided by the door latch. It looked like our ayah had forgotten to lock it. She was like that; quiet,
smart, and extremely witty. She let out a silent squeal of joy before tip-toeing in her pyjama shorts to
break the news to her friends. The group clasped their hands over their mouths to not scream in
delight. All of their senses left their bodies, and all they could think about was the lark. They had heard
stories of great heroes, more appropriately referred to as seniors, how they snuck out back in the day,
the tricks they used to get around punishments, and such triumphant tales.
Now they needed to execute just the perfect sneak-out plan. The girls took everything that could go
wrong into consideration, including calls to their parents, but what will the parents do? Scold them
over a call? "I know the route with no guards and cameras, the one behind the dining hall, but we might
have to cross a fence," said Sarika. "Good lord, Sarika, you are a genius. Don't worry about the fence.
We have Ms. Giraffe over here with us. "She will get us across," said Diya as Noor gave her a sour look.
Oh, but what will we do after the sneak out? "I have a feeling you scared cats will take a walk and back
out," said Pihu, rolling her eyes in sass. Let me see, we have our options. We can set off the fire alarm
by the admin block or ring the school bell. All the juniors will wake up confused. It will be hilarious,
"said Noor, with a smirk on her face. So it is done. We all sneak out by the hidden route, cross the fence,
and walk to the admin block. Then Sarika will put her quick legs to good use and set the false fire alarm.
We will stay hidden by the time everyone assembles in the field for the fire drill and join them there.
"Then we act as if nothing happened. It would take the teachers hours to find out that there is no
danger when they search the campus," 'cunningly said Diya,' chuckling at her wit.
The plan was almost perfect. The girls set
out to do the most daring sneak-out in
the history of the school. Imagine the
shame that will follow for the seniors
when they find out this master plan was
executed by none other than the
resented 9th graders. " As adrenaline
coursed through their veins, they took
silent steps to the fence, and as
promised, Noor helped everyone across.
The girls hurried along the planned path,
the dewy unkempt grass prickled their
feet clad in slippers. "Ah!" Pihu winced in
pain from being scratched by a bush.
"Don't you know our school is on a
budget, and they prefer not to hire
gardeners?" sighed Noor, expressing no
sympathy for her friend. They finally
made it to the admin block after all their
efforts.
