Methods of fixation
• Heat Fixation:
- Pass the slide through the flame 2-3 times.
- Kills bacteria and adheres them to the slide.
• Chemical Fixation:
- Use 95% ethanol or formaldehyde.
- Advantages: Preserves cellular structure better than heat.
