Pregnancy Induced Hypertension
Pre-eclampsia & Eclampsia
Definition: It is a specific condition, which occurs, only in the human
female during pregnancy. It is characterized by hypertension, edema and /
or proteinuria. It occurs after 20 weeks of pregnancy. If untreated it may
end in eclampsia.
Incidence:5 % to 7 % of all pregnant women will develop preeclampsia.
