Subjective signs: -
1. Headaches. 2. Visual changes. 3. Rapid onset edema.
4. Oliguria. 5. Nausea & vomiting. 6. Epigastric pain
Types of pre-eclampsia: -
1. Mild
It is a form of pre-eclampsia in which symptoms as headache and vomiting
are accompanied by a marked increase in the physical signs. This condition
lasts for a few hours followed by convulsions of eclampsia
2. Severe
This is characterized by
• The blood pressure is 160 / 100 or above.
• Massive proteinuria 5 gms or more in 24 hours.
• Anuria.
• Presence of symptoms as headache, vomiting and so on.

Diagnosis of pregnancy induced hypertension: -
High blood pressure (hypertension) and preeclampsia are typically
detected during regular prenatal checkups. The systolic blood pressure is
more affected by cardiac output changes & the diastolic blood pressure is
more affected by peripheral vascular resistance changes. Therefore the
diastolic blood pressure is the most diagnostic. Because these conditions
