Nursing Care for Anemic Patient during Postpartum
Period
• Make every effort to minimize blood loss.
• Check hemoglobin and hematocrit after delivery.
• All women will require iron supplement after delivery.

• Woman will be able to describe preventive measures for anemia.
• The woman can describe her condition and identify its possible
impact on her pregnancy, labor and postpartum period.
• Woman will be able to describe her prescribed diet.
• The woman takes her iron supplements as recommended.
• The woman takes appropriate health care measures to prevent
infection.

A 25 year old pregnant woman was presented with fatigue and celiac
disease. The only sign on physical examination was pallor as reported
by the nurse. On lab examination her Hb was 9.3 mg/dl and MCV was
