The holidays are upon us which means students are out of school, out-of-state travelers are on the roads and the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping has o cially begun. Holiday ac vi es produce increased holiday tra c and a need for ci zens to stay alert as we travel to par es, stores and family gatherings. Here are a few holiday travel safety reminders.
Drivers
• Obey the speed limit, especially in residen al neighborhoods
• Expect the unexpected, children cannot judge speed accurately and may dart in front of vehicle
• Be mindful, children have a narrower eld of vision than adults and may not see you even if you see them
• Don’t drink and drive
Bicyclists
• Always ride in the same direc on as cars and obey the rules of the road
• Ride towards the right side of the road
• If riding on a sidewalk, remember to check for cars pulling in or out of driveways • Always wear a helmet
Parking Lot Tips
• Don’t assume a driver sees you
• Always use a crosswalk when available
• Stay alert and watch for moving vehicles in the roadway and for ones backing out of spaces
• Don’t walk directly behind parked vehicles and look carefully when walking between parked vehicles
By following the above safety ps, you will help play a vital role in ensuring that oothers have a safe and happy holiday season.

which translates to a sales tax savings of more than $600,000. The savings can then be allocated back into projects.
Furthermore, BPS was recently approved
to receive $7.9 million in technology- related discounts through the Federal E-rate program for 2016 and 2017. This approval, in combina on with sales surtax educa onal technology funds, will allow BPS to provide wireless connec vity to every classroom by April 2018.
