In February, a group of visitors from the Netherlands toured Eau Gallie and Heritage High schools to see how school-wide positive behavioral interventions and support (PBIS) is implemented in a high school setting.
The group of 30 were comprised of university researchers, PBIS trainers, school administrators, and teachers. In addition to PBIS, the visitors were also interested in how schools implement a multi-tiered system of support and career and technical education (CTE) programs. At each school, students led the tours and the visitors were provided with opportunities to speak with them about their
educational experiences. The international educators were shown aspects of the AVID and Cambridge programs and also saw some CTE programs in action such as: automotive repair, sports medicine, childcare, aviation, video production, and marine mechanics, among others.
“This partnership was a great opportunity
to showcase the excellence of the PBIS programs that are being offered to students in Brevard Public Schools,” said Stephanie Martinez, technical assistance specialist for Florida’s PBIS project.
