Transportation Strives for Excellence in Customer Service
North area transportation supervisor, Andy West, began his career in transportation more than 20 years ago working for Disney. “I still have some of the Disney pixie dust so excellent customer service is big with me,” he said. “We don’t want late buses. That hinders learning.” By excellent customer service, West means getting kids to and from school as safely and efficiently as possible.

West oversees the daily operation of 62 bus routes in the north area of the county. The day begins in his office in Titusville at 5:45 a.m. when the office opens and bus drivers arrive to start the morning runs. Staff is on hand to be sure buses are mechanically ready for the day and put on spare buses if needed. Most buses make three runs—one each for elementary, high, and middle schools. Drivers return to the bus compound
by 10 a.m. and return around 1:30 p.m. to do the afternoon runs.
