How well your theatre fared depended on a
combination of things, but this many months
later almost nothing about this pandemic is
easy to explain. How you are surviving depends
partly on politics, partly on logistics, partly on
geography and partly on epidemiology. Small-
er theatres fared better than larger theatres,
but larger theatres managed to secure federal
funding more often than smaller theatres. Film
houses understandably are doing slightly better
overall than live performance venues, but col-
lectively, everyone took a hit.
