Greetings from President & CEO, Ken Stein
2020 Board of Directors Dear Members:
Willa Burke I hope you enjoy this digital version of the inLeague. In addition
Jujamcyn Theaters to our monthly newsletter, we produce four magazines annually
Laura Corman – two digital and two printed – including the inLeague that serves
as the program for the national conference in July. Speaking of
Educational Consultant the national conference…
Christine Delaney
Tibbits Opera House We are working hard to plan a virtual conference that will be
Steven Ehrenberg more interactive and engaging than just a long Zoom call. To
prepare, the staff and I have been monitoring (more like stalking)
Ambassador Theatre Group / ATG other virtual conferences to determine what works and, more
North America importantly, what does not. Our hope is to bring you something
Molly Fortune (Board Chair) that is relevant for these difficult times, but also as much fun as our
Newberry Opera House regular conference. It’s a tall order, we know, but considering we
Becky Hancock are bringing all of you together, we are confident it will be great.
Tennessee Theatre
Our incredible sponsors are making it possible for us to offer
Chris Loeser, AIA the national conference this year. Because of their support,
DLR Group | Westlake Reed the League anticipates that the conference will be free to all
Leskosky members theatres. We will be getting more information to you
Keith Marston about all of this soon.
The Shubert Organization Between now and the conference, we will be offering a few one-
Randy McKay off webinars to cover issues that are more time sensitive. We will
Jefferson Live! also continue our advocacy efforts in hopes of connecting you
Maureen Patton with funding opportunities. Please continue to use the LHAT-CHAT
The Grand 1894 Opera House Network to share your questions, concerns and, most importantly,
Bill Register your success stories. These are challenging times, but together we
The Nederlander Organization can get through them.
Michael Schnoering, FAIA Right now, most of our theatres are dark except for the ghost lights
Mills+Schnoering Architects, LLC that illuminate our stages. The practical use of a ghost light is for
Tony Sias safety. A person entering the dark auditorium can safely navigate
Karamu House, Inc. the stage to find lighting controls without hitting set pieces or
accidently falling into the pit. But many believe the ghost light
Stephanie Silverman keeps the theatre spirits happy until the audience returns. And
Belcourt Theatre while it might seem right now that audiences might never return,
Kevin Sullivan have no fear. The show will eventually go on. It always does. Until
National Trust Insurance Services then, the League staff is here to support you however we can.
I look forward to the day we can all come back together.
