Barrow Town Investment Plan - Stakeholder Insight Report
1. Introduction
1.1 The Stakeholder Insight Report draws on the following:
• Current sentiment on Barrow as expressed via online engagement platforms using
an AI web-scraping tool called ‘Meltwater AI’
• Analysis of suggestions put forward by the community to the #mytowns portal
• Consultation messages from a series of one-to-one consultations undertaken in
Phase 1 of the study with Town Deal Board members, Plan Development Group
members, Council officers and intermediaries
1.2 In addition, some recent public consultation has been undertaken as part of the Future High
Street Fund bid including an online survey which secured 700 responses, consultation with
Members, and public drop in consultation events which provides supporting insight into the
issues and opportunities identified by residents in the town centre.
1.3 Looking ahead, community engagement activity on the emerging Town Investment Plan is
gathering pace, with the launch of the ‘Brilliant Barrow’ website and associated consultation
on emerging projects.
