A MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
Dear Rich Township High School District 227 Students and Families,
I am pleased to share that Hybrid Learning is going well and we are inspired
by our students, families and staff as you positively and successfully make
this transition in the learning process. We want to ensure the safest possible
learning environment and will continue to closely monitor Covid-19 data on a
daily basis. Our students and staff are our first concern.
The 9th Annual Illinois 5 Essentials Survey takes place February 3 - April
2, 2021. The survey is important because it gives a detailed picture of the
inner workings of our schools. The survey gathers information related to five
indicators that can predict important student outcomes. The indicators include
effective leadership, collaborative teachers, family involvement, supportive
environments and ambitious instruction. All teachers, students and parents
should respond to this survey. These reports will be included in the State
School Report Card. If at least 20 percent of the RTHS parents complete this
survey, a parent supplement report will also be generated. The survey should
take approximately 20 minutes to complete.
We look forward to celebrating the accomplishments of the graduating class of 2021. On or before
March 1st we will be able to make the announcement as to whether the ceremony will be held in
person or virtually. We truly thank all for your patience, flexibility and support. We want everyone to
be safe. Seniors and parents please check your school bucks account to see if any fees are still owed.
Summer School Programs will take place June 7th - 15th. Summer School for credit recovery and
enrichment will be held virtually. Summer School for incoming Freshmen, Driver’s Education,
and extended school year students will be hybrid with in-person instruction. Summer School
Registration Forms will be available starting February 19th.
Curbside Meal Distribution will continue throughout March at both the STEM and Fine Arts and
Communications Campuses. Meals will be served on Monday from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. and 5:00
p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday meals are from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Families do not have to live in
the community or attend the District Schools. Parents can pick up meals
without their children being present and there are no forms to fill out or
income requirements. Five days of meals will be provided.
We continue to be thankful for our amazing students, teachers and parents.
Let us all stay safe, stay healthy and keep encouraging each other because
together we are always stronger.
Respectfully,
Dr. Johnnie Thomas
Superintendent
