Events and Shows
The season kicked off in May with the NSA Sheep South West
event. Sadly that week the weather decided to rain all week
which made the ground conditions underfoot very challenging,
ie a total mud bath!! Sadly this affected the number of visitors
but with this the stand was busy all day and I thank everyone
who came to help and manage the stand all day.
The following week the first of the major shows started with
Devon Country Show. After the previous week wash out the show
was blessed with perfect weather for the three days. An excellent
entry was received. The judge was John McLean of the Culsh
flock who had timed his trip down to the south west to
incorporate his honeymoon – congratulations to happy couple.
He awarded his Champion to the shearling ewe of Ben and Jess
Collings, Matt’s Hula Hoops who they purchased at Carlisle as a
ewe lamb. Reserve Champion went to Paul and Lin Calcraft’s
aged ewe.
The next major show was Bath and West at the beginning of
June and judging this was David Thornley of the Dooley flock.
Taking top spot was Aled Groucott’s shearling ewe, Swffryd Heidi,
Reserve went to Archie Hill’s shearling ram Hackney Horatio.
