Stabilized Earth, AMSE, the national trade association for suppliers of MSE structures. Bob
has 48 years of experience designing, building and teaching about MSE structures. He
introduced Mechanically Stabilized Earth technology to DOTs across the United States in
the 1970s and ‘80s and guided engineers and contractors through creating many of their
first MSE structures. An industry consultant since 1996, Bob helped create AMSE and has led
that organization for 24 years. He is active in the AASHTO Bridge Committee’s T-15 Technical
Committee, focusing on improvements to AASHTO’s MSE specifications that maximize MSE
structure performance, reliability and long-term safety.
