Department of Tourism Management

Introduction
The Tourism Management Department at the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology
integrates business intelligence and data analytics with the curricula that focus on tourism and hospitality
management.
The department includes four-year and two-year bachelor, master, and executive master degree programs in
tourism and hospitality management. Besides, the department also administrates a Ph.D. in Tourism Management
Program supervised by the Business Intelligence School.

The Aims of Education
The education goal of the department focuses on "cultivate tourism professionals with strong ethics,
entrepreneurship mentality, global perspective, communication skills, and be able to utilize business intelligence
technology to solve problems.”

Department Features
The curriculum design in the Tourism Management Department reflects the educational objectives. In addition to
the professional courses of tourism and hospitality management, the curriculum integrates with the core of
business intelligence, the big data technology, and the three innovations mentalities of innovation, creativity, and
entrepreneurship.
The teaching facilities of the department are distributed between Jiangong and Yanchao campuses. Both campuses
include audio/video equipped lecture rooms, computer labs, and conference/seminar facilities. The Yanchao
campus also facilitates professional labs of Chinese and Western culinary arts, Teppanyaki, Bakery, Coffee, and
Mixology, Japanese tearoom, and a self-support student-run operational cafe for entrepreneurship.

Career Directions
1.Professional Development: Students and graduates are encouraged to take the National licenses examines to
obtain Professional Licenses, such as National Certified Tour Guide and Tour Manager licenses, Foodservice
license, Bartender license, etc.
2.Postgraduate Education: Graduates are qualified to apply for Domestic and International graduate programs.
3.Employment: Graduates are employed by the travel industry, catering industry, aviation industry, hotel industry,
and other related service industries.
