         Culture and Creative Industries



           Department Introduction
         Our department called “Department of Culture Business Development” originally and has been renamed as Department of Culture
         and  Creative  Industries  from August  1st  in  2013.  People  can  exactly  know  what  we  do  according  to  the  new  name  of  our
         department. Taiwan has been highly promoting the field of cultural and creative industries nowadays. Besides, more and more
         similar departments are founded by a number of schools. Fortunately, you have the opportunity to join the trend. However, to stand
         out from those who are talented, you have to be able to conduct interdisciplinary tasks with excellent abilities. What we concern
         most  is  how  to  help  our  students  get  ideal  jobs  because  there  are  tens  of  thousands  of  graduates  from  the  same  department
         competing every year. You can compare the differences between our department in KUAS and other schools by the figure below.
         There are many aspects for you to develop in our department, such as marketing strategies and public relations, graphic design,
         advertising and package design. Also, if you are interested in literature, you can develop in copywriter and news media. We will
         pave the way for you during the following four years. That is to say, we will help you get an ideal job as soon as you graduate.
         Though  the  process  is  tough,  you  will  benefit  from  it  a  lot.  Furthermore,  the  more  diversified  the  environment  is,  the  more
         knowledge and skills you need to equip. In order not to be marginalized by the society, you have to learn as much as possible.
         Therefore, interdisciplinary is no longer a concept and you have to put it into practice. We look forward to your participation in
         Department of Culture and Creative Industries. Let’s create a wonderful future.
           The Aims of Education
         1.Cultivate the concept of multicultural integration and understanding.
         2.Develop the ability of storytelling and the creativity of cultural design.
         3.Develop the ability of combination between cultural concept, marketing and projecting.
         4.Teach students to apply the digital technology to develop cultural and creative goods.
         5.Have the ability of cross-discipline integration like literature with communication and design.
           Industry-university Collaboration
         Our department cooperates with many corporations and organizations, including Bureau of
         Cultural Affairs Kaohsiung City Government, Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Art, National

         Science  and  Technology  Museum,  Taitung  Hotel  Royal  Chihpen,  Greenmax,  Gseven,  and  Advanced  International
         Multitech corporation, and so on. Through the cooperation, students can have working experiences and these experiences
         can make students more competitive in the workplace in the future.
           Challenges and Missions
         1.Cultural Passing-down
         The origin of our department was the Mandarin Department which acted as passing down the culture. However, with the rapid changes of social modernization, the
         advance of technology and the aggravating pressure of competition in workplace, Mandarin has become the courses for making up credits. Comparing with the
         environment led by technology mainly, cultural cultivation seems impractical. Moreover, it will be a fruitless approach to pass down the culture if those cultural
         workers lack the awareness of hardships and still stick to traditional teaching concept. Hence, how to interpret the culture within the trend of such powerful technology?
         How to market or communicate culture and innovate afterwards? It is a solemn and meaningful age issue as well as the challenges and missions of the cultural workers
         in modern ages. Under such condition, our school has decided to found the department of cultural business. In order to fit the requests of modern society, we formally
         modified as department of culture and creative industries on August 1st in 2013.
         2.Running
         Culture is a mode living by population which has the accumulative wisdom of history as well as responses to the creativity of the new age. These ideas can be showed
         in literature, art, folk habits, regulations and the invention of technology. It can be entered in any entrances and can all lead to cultural garden. As to the exploring way,
         literature is the main part, but sometimes is art or folk habits. Students can explore widely and limit to acquire properly. We can learn the wisdom of historical culture
         and see the distinguished demeanors in different western culture. Besides, we can learn the delicate culture of intellectual aristocrats as well as appreciate the popular
         culture of the public. What we need to cultivate are global citizens who have the principal thought of Taiwanese culture with passion, dignity and tolerance.
         3.Go into the Culture of Life Communication
         The mission of passing down the culture has been the heavy burden for the people working in cultural creative industry. Our department cultivates students to take
         action actively, take cultural connotation as vitality to go into the culture of life communication and combine with the techniques of digital design, mass communication
         or marketing planning. Furthermore, develop creative packages and enhance the agreeableness and lifelikeness of culture so as to create the demands of cultural
         consumption and spread the culture around our lives.
         4.Alliance with Industries
         Creating the demands of cultural consumption is particularly about the industrialization of culture and turns the culture into merchandise. The cultivation of industries is
         as if the products can be blended into their value and be developed their additional value. This is the administrative emphasis and the new currency of global economic
         development. Regardless of cultural industrialization or industrial cultivation, culture is the fountain head and it is the educational objective of our department.
         Nevertheless, we place more importance on the efficiency of cultural communication. Expecting that students enable to step on the land they grew up, blend into the
         social dynamic, communicate with technology, intercommunicate with the public, form an alliance with industries and create win-win situation.
         5.Challenges as well as Missions
         Establishing the culture and creative department is a whole new thought in the environment led by technology and the concept of passing down the culture after all. It
         makes us firmly believe that communicating culture and cultivating the personnel of the cultural communication are the correct direction. Though pioneers are
         sometimes alone and burdensome, passing down the culture is the mission of the workers with creative ideas forever. We are willing to accept the challenges of the
         age, erect the historical patterns and instruct the up-and-coming youngsters who take cultural inheritance as their careers in generation.
