Business Management

Introduction
To support the establishment of the "Ocean Affairs Council" by the central government and the related marine policies, the
National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology launched the "The Master of Marine Affairs and Industrial
Management" under the School of Management on August 1, 2012, and officially changed to "Institute of Marine Affairs
and Business Management " on August 1, 2016. It is expected to advance the marine awareness of faculties and students
and deepen the ocean education for fulfilling the goal of safeguarding Taiwan's "Ocean Security” and promoting marine
“Industrial Prosperity”.

The Aims of Education
1.To cultivate administrative professional in marine affairs, assist students in obtaining qualifications for public servants,
promote maritime national policies, and improve the ocean safety of Taiwan.
2.To nurture marine industry management talents, guide students to enter the marine-related industries, and work with
senior managers to promote the prosperity of the blue economy.

Features
1.To develop an integrated marine and coastal management system in accordance with the principles of the ecosystem for
ensuring the ecology of marine resources and the ocean safety.
2.To cultivate students' capabilities of innovation, entrepreneurship, planning, execution and control related to marine
industries, and enhance the competitiveness of Taiwan's marine industry.
3.To emphasize the views of international marine affairs, implement full-English classes, participate in international
cooperation, and realize the ideal of “Ocean Taiwan”.

Career Directions
Graduates can work in various fields as follows:
1.Marine Affairs Management: Special Civil Service Examination for Coast Guards, Senior Examinations for Fishery
Administration, Senior Examinations for Marine Resources, Senior Examinations for Marine Administration.
2.Marine Industries Management: Marine Biotechnology Industry Managers, Marine Recreational Industry Manager,
Marine Industry Innovation Entrepreneurs, Other Marine Related Industry managers.
3.Marine Environmental Education: Marine Environmental Education Promoter.
4.Further studies: enter local or overseas maritime-related graduate schools and Ph.D. programs
