My Name is Maura. 20 days after
our wedding, Arian, the governor,
summoned my husband Timothy,
and put him in jail. Few days later, the governor sum-
moned me too. He told me that he feels bad for me
and that he is worried that I will be widowed at this
young age. The governor asked me to convince, my
husband, Timothy to worship the idols and to deny
Christ, to save himself from severe torture. I was worried
about My husband and decided to have a private con-
versation with him. I talked to him and told him that I was
sad for his pains and that I was scared that he would lose his
life. I told him that I had a brilliant idea! I told him to pretend
to the governor that he agreed to deny Christ and burn
incense to the idols in front of the governor and then when
we go home, he worships Christ only! He would do this just to
get out of prison.
Later, I went back to Arian, the governor and told him “You’ve
sent me to convince my husband to deny Christ, but now I am
here to confess my faith in Christ and that I prefer to be mar-
