PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Etymology
Rattanakosin is a name for an era started in 1810, as Bangkok was named the capital of Thailand. In term of Physical Size, Rattanakosin Island (Origin of Bangkok) is roughly 1.8 Sq.Km (0.7 Sq.Mile) or 118 Hectare. On this small island of Bangkok, Rattanakosin lls with knowledge of arts and culture. From 1810, Bangkok has been creating timeless works of arts ranging from drawing, carving, and sculpting. Rattanakosin culture includes Classical Khon and Lakorn Dance, Seah-Pah Chanting, and countless festivals. Rattanakosin art and culture produced in the past 235 years of the Thais’ stories, becomes an integral part of the Thais’ everyday life. It pronounces identity that is going beyond Thailand. Thai arts are known for their rich, vivid, and majestic assets internationally as the world heritage. Thai Arts Conservation effort is, however, lagged and lopsided by the government agency, making the arts and their knowledge inaccessible for the public. What use is preservation if it’s not for the public access?
