from two weeks in Ireland and Scotland plus a week visiting his hometown in the Netherlands. He told me the temperature was in
the mid-90’s the entire time and in Ireland, miles of marshes were dried up. Normally wet and foggy bogs were dry and cracked, appearing like desolate mud flats where nature has always been eternally green. The fog that helps to define the area appeared only in the early morning, gone by 10am. I cringed. I wanted to cry.

Here in Northern California, I fill a large blue bowl with water for visiting birds every morning. The bowl sits atop a corner of our deck railing facing distant Fitch mountain. This daily act is surprisingly fulfilling and opens me to do more.

Energy, PG&E and Fire Safety

A friend of mine recently returned
thousands of years?
The foremost issue that must
be addressed is, first can PG&E take action to prevent failure infrastructure produced wild fires while ensuring that California’s communities and businesses have reliable sources of energy?
I am part of a human system that requires my face at work at least 40 hours a week. Without that, I don’t survive in a healthy, balanced way.
Moving California to an economy of sustainable, clean energy will require broad collaboration. Public utilities must dramatically improve their performance and orientation toward safety.

PG&E’s impending bankruptcy
presents a massive set of challenges to state policymakers and the people of California. The bankruptcy which came to a head with the Northern California wildfires puts state policymakers at a crossroad. (they will have to decide how to move forward.)
 While PG&E’s bankruptcy stems from wildfires sparked within the past few years, State Sen. Bill Dodd has noted that PG&E’s “hubris and mismanagement have led to this unfortunate point.”
