Discuss briefly how the Institution manages an effective and Functional
Student Administration
The Ifugao State University-Potia Campus, in order to attain an effective and
functional student administration conducts orientations, meetings and other means of
information drive regarding school policies, rules and regulation immediately upon
enrollment. The Department of student Affairs, Registrar. Accounting and other
delivery units conducts a separate and exclusive meeting among freshmen in the
undergraduate and graduate programs to introduce and explain in detail all activities,
policies that will govern them during their stay in the University. All students are
provided with student handbook that will serve as their guide and reference in all cases
of problems at all times. In addition, the University inform parents through letters or
even invite them for a meeting where issues and concerns are discussed with
concerned Administrators and faculty members.
The University is replete with bulletins where academic processes, flow chart,
citizens charter and other information are directly exhibited for all. The office of the
Guidance Counselor and College Deans are open to students for inquiries and
complaints. The Grievance committee for students are also activated to investigate
and resolved complaints. The Office of the Security Guard (OSG) are sufficiently
manned to monitor all activities and maintain order in the University premises.
Describe student, faculty and non-teaching staff’s participation in the
planning and implementation of policies and activities concerning their
welfare
One notable Guiding Principles of IFSU is the participatory and shared decision
making enshrined in the preliminary chapter of the IFSU Code. Decisions are made
with the participation of the Administration, faculty, student and stakeholders. This
scheme is adopted so that all concerned are encourage and given the opportunity to
help draw the outcome of policies, guidelines and conclusion of events. There is
freedom of consultation so that everybody may have their part in charting/defining
important plans and decisions of the University. These process although criticize as
being sluggish, however, the result is comprehensive and far reaching.
Students and stake holders are informed in advance to attend activities of the
University such as General meetings, Budget (planning) apportionment and other use
of funds, Memorandum of Understanding with other agencies, preparation of the
Development Plan of the campus.
It is worthy to note that year round, an orientation is conducted to all students where
their rights, privileges and responsibilities are explained as embodied in the student
manual. The orientation ends with an open forum where all the students are
encouraged or given the chance to seek clarification/explanation of the sections in the
student handbook that they do not understand.
Student leaders are also invited to attend and participate in meetings where
planning of activities are discussed.
