One of our older customers, Pappy, would come in twice a day, every day, for his coffee. He was such a joy and put a smile on all our faces whenever he was in. He would wipe down
our coffee island and joke around with us his whole visit. Last week we noticed he didn’t stop in at his normal time, so we knew something was wrong. His daughter stopped in one morning
last week and told us he was admitted into the hospital in very serious condition. Pappy was mostly comatose, but whenever
he would come-to and wake up, his family said he would ask about his Wawa Family. It took Vaughn, Amanda, Jess, John and Amber less than a few hours to come up with the amazing idea
of taking an extra promo shirt and having everyone sign it with encouraging quotes and heartfelt messages. With this shirt, they also made him a Pappy ‘intern’ nametag. Later that day, some of them went to go visit him in the hospital to see how he was doing and offer support to his family. These Associates went above
and beyond the expectations of great customer service, and this kind act meant so much to Pappy and his family. We did find
th
out that Pappy passed away the morning of January 13 , but we
are comforted knowing that we made things a little easier on his family during these hard times.
