FEATURES OF SPORT LENSES
In sports vision is maximized by the correct use of lenses and trauma is
avoided by the correct use of lens material. Everything that is being to
protect and enhance vision has a bearing on safety. This sums up the
following features of a good sports lens:

1. Impact Resistant Material
Sport is the commonest cause of severe eye injuries in the world today.
People who get eye injuries in sports were not wearing eye protection.
Over the last 10 years, the popularity of sports has increased enormously.
There are a few standards enforced by the state. The purpose of standards
is to make sure that the practitioners know what is available to ensure
required protection in each sport. Unless the standards are available, advice
and knowledge will inevitably vary from one practitioner to another. In
such cases some athletes may get wrong advice. The need for protection of
eyes in sports is evident and the ruling bodies will have to work upon this.
However, currently all the sports lenses are made of polycarbonate or trivex
material. It is difficult to justify anything less. Due to cost factor some may
use CR lenses also.
