KNOW IT WRITE IT WORK IT

Complete the following on paper or in digital format.

                        KNOW IT Think Critically

                        Move toward Better Health
Build basic skills. Pick a behavior—eating, drinking, sleeping, sexual activity—that holds some
kind of issue for you. Describe your behavior and your attitude toward what you do.
                        Example: Issue: binge drinking
Behavior: I binge drink probably once a week.
Attitude: I don’t think it’s any big deal. I like using it to escape.
Question to think about: Is it worth it?
Take it to the next level. Examine whether your behavior is a problem by noting positive
and negative effects. Be as objective as you can. To continue the example above:
Positive effects: I have fun with my friends. I feel conf dent, accepted, social.
Negative effects: I feel foggy the next day. I miss class. I’m irritable.

Move toward mastery. Based on the effects of your behavior, think about where you want to
make a difference, and why. Then describe changes you could make by answering the following
questions. For example, the binge drinker might consider cutting back on one drinking outing a
week and investigating one new social activity that does not involve drinking.
                         1. How might you change your behavior?
                         2. How might you change your attitude?
                         3. What positive effects do you think these changes would have?
                         4. Commit to these actions to put positive change in motion. Describe your plan, including specif c
                           steps and a time frame.
