PERU’S APEC YEAR
The economic leaders of the APEC gathered in Lima, Peru in
November 2008 under the theme, “A New Commitment to
Asia-Pacific Development”, which highlighted the importance
of reducing the gap between developed and developing
member economies.
The meeting was held in the midst of the financial crisis,
one of the most serious economic challenges the region
had ever faced. Leaders must act quickly and decisively to
address the impending global economic slowdown.
