CHILE’S APEC YEAR KOREA’S APEC YEAR

The APEC Leaders’ Meeting in Chile was held in November The APEC Leaders’ Meeting in Korea was held in Busan, Korea in
2004 in Santiago. The theme for the Chilean meeting was November 2005. The theme was “Towards One Community: Meet the
“One Community, Our Future”, where leaders reaffirmed their Challenge, Make the Change”, in order to advance the common vision of
commitment to achieve sustainable and equitable growth and achieving stability, security and prosperity for its people. APEC Leaders
reduce economic disparities for the well-being of our people by also endorsed the Busan Roadmap to the Bogor Goals which includes

meeting the Bogor Goals of trade and investment liberalization supporting the multilateral trading system, strengthening collective and
and facilitation, enhancing human security, and promoting good individual actions, and the promoting of high-quality regional and free
governance and a knowledge-based society. trade agreements.

Through their interaction with APEC Leaders and business
leaders, the Voices of the Future participants gained a deeper

understanding of how trade negotiations were conducted
and how new opportunities were created for businesses in
the APEC region. The leaders wanted to improve and
work with the business sector in all
ventures towards improving the business
environment in the Asia-Pacific region. They
also sought to enhance human safety and

security within the Asia-Pacific region.

The Voices of the Future student leaders

witnessed the signing of the ABAC anti-
corruption pledge by the CEOs at the APEC
2005 CEO Summit, which encouraged public
and private partnership in the campaign.
