Message
Our youths are growing up in an era of rapid change and global uncertainty. Rising trade tensions and the
COVID-19 pandemic have affected our economic growth. Climate change and challenges of food security
emphasise the need to remain nimble and adaptable. Technologies, like artificial intelligence and advanced
robotics, are disrupting our industries, and identity politics, accelerated by technology and social media, can
threaten social cohesion.
Despite these uncertainties, our youths continue to be filled with a sense of purpose to do good. And with
determination and grit, they can achieve endless possibilities. We must support our youths as they pave the way
for a brighter future as leaders of the next generation.
This is the work that the National Youth Achievement Award (NYAA) has been doing over the past 30 years.
Through its range of initiatives and programmes, the NYAA has provided thousands of youths from different
backgrounds with life-changing opportunities, exposing them to the region and beyond. The NYAA has played
an important role in grooming our leaders of tomorrow, planting in them the seeds of empathy to serve others,
and equipping them with the tools and skills to make a difference in society.
My best wishes to the NYAA Advisory Board and Council, the Secretariat, and the NYAA Gold Award Holders’
Alumni on your 30th Anniversary. May you continue to create capable and inspiring leaders for many more years
to come.
