Implementation of Selected Eco-Solution


            After  discussion  with  Prince’s  Landscape,  it  was
            ascertained  that  the  best  eco-solutions  to  be
            implemented  was  the  installation  of  a  drip-irrigation
            system and hose nozzles to some parts of the nursery
            (see Figure 17). This was selected as the company has
            prior  expertise  in  and  its  implementation  provides
            savings  in  terms  of  water  usage  and  productivity  and
            environmental sustainability.

            A trial of the drip-irrigation system was tested in an area
            of the nursery that holds an average of 800 potted plants

            For nine days, students and workers recorded the time
            taken to water the section using the maximum water
            flow, which was the usual practice in the company (see
            Figure 18). The current method used to water plants is
            by hand using a hose without a hose nozzle. The results
            are shown below (see Table 1).
