C) Cost and Saving from Using Dish iv) Reduction of Detergent & Water
Washing Method Based on CMC Value Consumption of Coffee Shops in
Tampines Area Yearly
i) Reduction of Detergent Consumption of
Coffee Shop Yearly *Assumption 4 stalls in the coffee shop. 100 coffee
shops in the Tampines area.
Around five pails of the dirty dishes are generated daily
per stall—a total of 4 stalls. a) Reduction of detergent of Coffee Shops in Tampines
• Original washing, detergent usage: 180 ml x 5 pails Area Yearly: 401.5L x 100 coffee shops = 40,150L
x 4 stalls x 365 days = 1314 litres
• New washing method, detergent usage: 125 ml x 5 b) Reduction of water of Coffee Shops in Tampines Area
pails x 4 stalls x 365 days = 912.5 litres Yearly: 36,500L x 100 coffee shops = 3,650,000L
• Reduction of detergent usage: 1314L – 912.5L=
401.5 litres
v) Cost Saving Yearly
ii) Reduction of Water Consumption of
Coffee Shop Yearly *Assumption 5L of detergent cost: $5.00
• Cost saving of 40,150L detergent = $40,150
• Original washing, water usage: 20L x 5 pails x 4
stalls x 365 days = 146,000L The unit cost of water: $1.63/m³
• New washing method, water usage: 15L x 5 pails x • Cost saving of 3650m³ water = $5,949.50
4 stalls x 365 days = 109,500L
• Reduction of water usage: 146,000L – 109,500L=
36,500 litres
iii) Cost Saving Yearly
5L of detergent cost: $5.00
• Cost-saving of 401.5L detergent = $401.50
The unit cost of water: $1.63/m³
• Cost-saving of 36.5m³ water = $59.50
• Total saving = $461
