Eco-Solution
Our eco-solution comprises two key components. Firstly, the
ESI team proposed adjusting the Air Handling Unit (AHU) fan
frequency, reducing it from 50Hz to 40Hz. Leveraging the
principles of the Affinity Law of Fans, this approach targeted
a 20% reduction in the AHU fan’s RPM and airflow volume,
resulting in a notable 50% decrease in energy consumption.
Secondly, the team proposed the installation of 4-5 energy-
efficient standing air fans (EBF-Z3 models) renowned for
their bladeless design and energy efficiency. These fans are
strategically placed to compensate for the 20% loss in AHU
airflow volume. By integrating these two eco-solutions, the
aim was to significantly reduce the energy consumption at
SGH Campus One.
Additionally, installing a multi-purpose monitoring device
(Figure 1) should ensure good indoor air quality (IAQ) Figure 1: The multi-purpose indoor air quality monitoring
maintenance, encompassing CO2 levels, room temperature, device
and relative humidity, throughout the SGH One Campus
facility.
Figure 2 shows the area at the SOC at SGH One Campus, Blk 3 basement, which was selected for experimentation. The AHU
servicing that area is AHU305.
