Based on a saving of 0.186 KWH saving per customer for the Eco-solution 2 hairdryer, JMW AIR FIT, then carbon emission
savings are as follows:
* 0.186kWh saving per customer multiplied by 20 clients multiplied by 30 days multiplied by 12 months equals 1209.6kWh.
Therefore, the annual resource consumption is 1209.6kWh.
* The conversion ratio is 0.4057KgCO2, and annual carbon emission reduction is 490 KgCO2.
Conclusion
This study has demonstrated the tangible benefits of incorporating eco-friendly products, specifically by replacing
conventional showerheads with ecoheads and hairdryers with more efficient alternatives. The Ecohead showerhead alone
has resulted in an annual reduction of carbon emissions by 386 kgCO2, while the JMW AIR FIT hairdryer saves 490 kgCO2
emissions per annum.
Implementing these eco-friendly solutions has resulted in a cost-saving of $622.80 and reduced carbon emissions by 876
kgCO2 per year. The ESI team is eager to extend our assistance to more salons in Singapore, facilitating the adoption of
water-saving shower heads and electricity-saving hairdryers to promote sustainability on a broader scale.
Student’s Reflection
Integrating the Ecohead shower head and eco-friendly hairdryers into J’s Salon will yield numerous
benefits, particularly in conserving water and electricity. This initiative has the potential to inspire
similar eco-friendly changes not only within the salon but also across other establishments.
Through this project, we have witnessed firsthand the considerable savings in money and electricity
achievable by opting for suitable and environmentally conscious equipment.
