Environmental Review

            The ESI team noted that despite recycling bins conveniently located throughout the SDC premises, the amount of recycled
            material collected eventually remains low. Additionally, there  are instances of recyclable materials being improperly
            disposed of in general waste bins. The ESI team's objective was to investigate methods to increase the amount of general
            and recyclable waste collected from relevant bins by 10% annually while encouraging visitors to dispose of waste correctly.


            The ESI team conducted a waste review over four months (February 2023 to May 2023). Various waste and recyclable
            items were collected and weighed (Figure 3). These items included paper, metal, plastic, glass, and others. A detailed table
            displaying the quantities of various waste items in kilograms is compiled, as shown in Table 1.

            Aluminium, plastic and paper data from Table 1 were used to compute the equivalent associated annual carbon emission
            CO2. Table 2 shows the estimated total yearly associated carbon emissions of CO2 from the waste generated is 15,942 kg.
