Student’s Reflection
Muhammad Haikal Bin Mohamed Al Amin
As a student from Higher Nitec in IT Application Development, I never expected that through hardcore
programming alone, without the need for additional hardware, I could develop an eco-friendly solution that aids
society in reducing its carbon footprint. It has made me realize that even as a programmer, I can play a significant
role in saving and protecting our Mother Earth.

Through this project, I have come to understand the crucial roles that policy makers, service providers, and
manufacturers play in sustainability. The data we collected revealed something shocking: the seemingly
innocuous receipt I receive from an ATM machine or a supermarket is actually causing significant harm to the
environment. In reality, what we truly need is just the data itself. It begs the question: does it truly matter in what
form the data comes?
