Potential carbon and cost savings for Singapore
Thus, if this Eco-solution 3 at a local snack company were estimated to save 0.85833 tonnes of CO2e emissions and savings
of $32.50 per year, then if there are 1,000 such food establishments (as of Mar2021, see Reference 4) in Singapore, the total
savings for the sector would be 858.33 tonnes of CO2e emissions and savings of $32,500 per year

            Student's Reflection

Based on the information and solutions which my group had proposed as an alternative packaging
solution for Revive, I had learned that each packaging solution highlights the various approaches
to addressing environmental sustainability with their pros and cons. Solution 1 emphasizes on
biodegradable packaging with its setbacks being poorer moisture resistance and durability then
conventional used plastics. Solution 2 showcases a fully recyclable flat-bottom pouch made from
polyethylene (PE-PE), featuring convenience through its zipper and tear-off design. The packaging
proves itself as it less relies single-use plastics and promotes recyclability, but it also depends on the
consumers habits of recycling. And lastly, solution 3, a polyethylene-based stand-up pouch, integrates
high performance with eco-conscious design, focusing on functionality, recyclability, and moderate
moisture protection with its flaws being opaque design and their heavy

Participating in this project on sustainable packaging solutions for "Revive" has been an eye-opening
experience. It has highlighted the importance of balancing environmental sustainability with
operational and financial considerations in business practices. Through the research and development
process, I have gained deeper insights into the environmental impact of traditional packaging
materials, especially single-use plastics, and the challenges businesses face when transitioning to
                                 more sustainable alternatives.

The exploration of three different eco-friendly packaging solutions showcased how diverse approaches
can cater to various needs and goals. Solution 1, which emphasized biodegradable packaging, taught
me the importance of material compatibility with product requirements, as its limited moisture
resistance underscored the trade-offs in functionality.
