pigeons looking at me! I miss being a New Yorker. I miss people and things I
didn’t know I was going to miss.

This quarantine has made me become a caretaker and teacher for
my younger siblings, which has been stressful and tiring. I keep having to
maintain my classes and grades while doing the same for them. I’m constantly
stressed out, and for what? It’s stressful enough to be worrying about catching
the coronavirus, but I’m also stressed about completing multiple assignments.

Everyday I think about giving up, but I don’t because I care about my
education. I can still see myself walking up the stage during my highschool
and college graduation. I have goals I want to complete, and maybe even suc-
ceed in. Even though I know I will still succeed in the future, still during this
present time that we are in, I’m worried and overwhelmed. I deeply believe this
pandemic has changed me as a person because I now know to not take things
for granted in the world. I took advantage of going outside, hanging out with
my friends, even going to school! This pandemic has shown me that I had to
step up as an older sister. It made me a stronger and a better person, believe
it or not. It has changed the way I view myself and society today. Even with
everything going on, hopefully the Big Apple is able to turn on the lights again
and continue as having the legacy of being the “City that never sleeps”.
