What I miss when we didn’t have
quarantine
Rusty Carter, School of the Future
There is so much that I miss from our normal lives that we can’t do any-
more. One of them is baseball. I miss going in the grey pathfinder and dodging
traffic on the FDR while jamming out to old school songs that my dad grew up
listening to. Honestly I enjoyed most of them. ¨ Every day is a new opportunity.¨
This quote was said by Bob Feller. Bob Feller played for the Cleveland Indians
back in 1918. Now back to the present where we are done with the trip. ;Then
when the trip to Randall’s Island was finished, I would go straight to the base-
ball team and start our warm up drills. That was on Sundays and Saturdays.
Whether it was Practice Day or Game Day, that’s how my weekends were. Even
though that might not sound amazing , but trust me, it was a blast. Every
Sunday and Saturday, going out onto the fields, fresh grass, and seeing your
friends so you can all have fun and play the sport you love together. I remember
waking up every morning getting dressed right away and then on my way to
the fields to play your favorite sport. Sometimes you would lose and sometimes
you would win. But at the end of the day, it’s just a routine. And a game, it is
also a game. But the cool thing about it is, if you are good enough, and go to the
major leagues, you can make some big money! Imagine that, making a lot of
money by playing the sport you love.
Another thing I miss that I didn’t realize I even had was those tiny fun
moments. What I mean by this is let’s say going up the stairs in SOF and you
see your friends on one of the floors and you say hi and continue your journey
up the stairs. Maybe do a little fun handshake you two made up or somethings
like shake hands or fist bump. That is an example of these fun little moments.
I know almost everyone has taken these for granted. You probably have taken
these for granted because you forgot they even happened. That’s the thing I
love about these small moments, you barely even notice they happen. Matter a
fact they happen in a split second. If you read this, think back and remember
all the fun little things that have happened to you.
This is now becoming more serious. I started to think if we would be like
this forever or if someday it would finally go back to normal. I am becoming
more and more freaked out, but I am still not actually scared for my dear life.
I am just becoming more aware of the virus. And how it is spreading. Also I
