1992-2002 SEASONS
We’re Building a Legacy
These years saw the Chorale’s mission of “enriching lives through song” transformed into a living, breathing reality. There was a sense of momentum, growth,
and ever-expanding influence in the choral world.
The Children’s Chorale was formed, and the multi- generational Youth Choral Festival became a beloved annual tradition. A long-standing relationship with the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, which continues to this day, began with a performance of Handel’s Messiah in 1996. The invitations to perform in prestigious venues rolled in as did the opportunities to commission and premiere new works. The Chorale took its first overseas tour to Scotland and England, began releasing professionally produced recordings, gained national radio exposure, and became the first volunteer choir to receive ACDA’s highest honor, the Margaret Hillis Award.
