INFORMATION ABOUT CALCULATING POINTS
All animals Disqualified From Competition, unless disqualified from the class for wrong breed, sex, group, or variety, are to be counted in the total number of animals in that class. No animal receiving an Unworthy of Award will be counted in the total number of animals in that class.
Best of Breed receives 1 point x the number of rabbits in the breed.
Best Opposite Sex of Breed receives 1⁄2 point x number of rabbits in the breed.
Open Best In Show receives 100 additional points. Specialty Best In Show receives zero additional points.
NARBC Convention Best In Show exhibitors will receive double points for all classes, bonuses, and Best In Show at the National Angora Specialty Show.
ARBA Convention exhibitors will receive double points for all classes, bonuses, and Best In Show. You really don't need to worry about this as the show report should already have this figured!
How to know if the show was an open show or specialty show.
If the third letter in the ARBA Sanction is an ‘S’ then it is a Specialty Show. Example: NOS0918
How to know if it was a youth or open show.
An NARBC Youth Sanction number will begin with a ‘Y’. Example: YA01. NARBC Sanctioned Open shows will begin with an ‘O’. Example: OA01.
How to know the date of the show.
The date of the show should be listed on the Sanctions information received from the Sanctions Chairperson as well as on the Show Report received from the Show Secretary.
How to know if computerized show report points are calculated correctly.
Computerized show reports that are purchased from a company are usually correct. You will need to verify if the points for BOB, BOS or BIS were included in the total points shown on the report. If not, you must add these to the points listed for the exhibitor. You will have some show reports sent to you that are hand written and have not calculated the points or the points are calculated incorrectly. You will need to calculate/review to insure these points are calculated correctly. The computerized show reports do make keeping track of points a lot easier!
What to do with incomplete show reports.
If you can not figure out the information, which sometimes you can, you must
either send the show report back to the Show Secretary or call/e-mail the Show Secretary.
How should points be calculated for a person who shows in different names.
Example: Harry and Bunny Rabbit go to a show. Harry Rabbit shows some of the angoras in his name; Bunny Rabbit shows some of the angoras in her name; and Harry and Bunny Rabbit show some of the angoras in both of their names. These points are calculated separately for each. Thus you will have a point sheet for Harry Rabbit, a point sheet for Bunny Rabbit, and a point sheet for Harry and Bunny Rabbit. It is also important that exhibitors always show under the same name. Example: Margaret Boing also shows as Peggy Boing. This can be very confusing to a sweepstakes person, especially not knowing the exhibitor. A person should always show in the same name.
