 SPEAKERS - Day 1 Brian McNulty, PE
Brian was appointed District Executive for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation District 1-0 in June 2020. There he leads a team of more than 800 employees in six counties who are dedicated to the maintenance, preservation and construction of nearly 4,000 miles of highway and 2,066 bridges.
Brian received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil
Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 2007 with a
concentration in Structural Engineering. He started his professional career
in the private sector working on land development design projects in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia and Maryland. He then joined PennDOT in District 10-0 as a Civil Engineer on the Bridge Unit. Brian came to District 1-0 in 2011 and worked several years within the Design Liaison Unit as a Project Manager. He subsequently advanced to a Senior Civil Engineer Supervisor position in the Bridge Unit and later worked as the Civil Engineer Manager in charge of the Planning and Programming Section. In 2017, he was appointed the Assistant District Executive of Design. He has been a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania since 2011.
Thomas Zurat, Jr., PE
Tom began his career with the Pennsylvania Department
of Transportation in 1990 as a civil engineer trainee. Since that time, he has progressed through various engineering positions in District 2-0, including Highway Design Squad Leader, Plans Engineer, and Portfolio Manager. He served as Assistant District Executive for Design prior to becoming District Executive. Tom graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
