Mission : To Develop, Deliver and Assure Excellence in Aircrew In-
struction for Defence

CFS is headed by Gp Capt Martin Higgins, Comdt CFS, under a
directive issued by AOC 22 Gp.

CFS comprises a HQ, an Design and Delivery Wing (D&D Wg)
and Examining Wing (Exam Wg). Whilst the CFS HQ is based
at RAF Cranwell housing Exam Wg and Smith Barry Academy
(SBA) of D&D Wg, CFS(H) is located at RAF Shawbury. CFS
Examiners are located at the primary training airfields but they
manage, and are supported by, a network of CFS Agents which
provides assurance across the entire Defence Aviation Environ-
ment.

GAI J2042 provides further details of the organization and roles
of the CFS.

CFS’s core outputs:

Development - R&D into fg trg methods and media incl VR, AI,
360º video and Human Performance.
Delivery - Aircrew instructor, Fg Trg Manager Trg, Rotary In-
structional trg, AP3456, Overseas Defence Engagement
Assurance - Assurance of Fg Instruction
