**Any new installations must be in conformance with this standard and every home in compliance by
April 16, 2029**
Deck Stipulations:
1. Decks shall be square or rectangular with a maximum depth of 10’ (ten feet) and be set 2’
(two feet) from adjoining property lines
2. Wraparound decs are permitted but may wrap no more than 4’ wide around the side of the
unit
3. Decks shall be inset a minimum of 2’ from each corner of the house (neighboring property)
4. Deck corners must be 90 degrees, not angled
5. Decks shall be constructed in such a way that knee braces are not required for support or, if
braces are required by the county, they be no more than 2’ below the deck floors/joist
6. Railings shall be simple wood 2” x 2” vertical pickets with a sweep space (2 ½” minimum)
7. The top trim board be 1” x 4” outside of pickets and 2” x 4” inside pickets or 2” x 4” inside
pickets only or 2” x 4” outside pickets only.
8. The bottom trim board match the top trim board with the additional option of a 2” x 4”
bottom trim board installed horizontally
9. The cap board be horizontal 4”-8” wide with an option at stair rail only of 2” x 4” horizontal
with 1” x 6” vertical at inner surface
10. Railing support post be 4” x 4” and installed on the inside or outside of the fascia board
11. The deking (walking) surface be designed according to applicant’s discretion
12. Deck shall be installed with a 2” x 8” fascia board, not to extend about the deck surface with
the option of 4” trim board to cover the decking edge
13. That deck steps may not exceed 48” in width
14. Any deck which is less than 6” above grade must be constructed in accordance with the
Design Guidelines for ground-level decks (DRB application may be required)
15. Submission of a DRB application is required for the installation of elevated decks
16. Any new installations must be in conformance with this standard and every hose be in
compliance by April 16, 2029
